The reason why I posted this is because I have seen some people join it and frankly I don’t understand it. I’d like to point out that not only is it asking for Obama to die but it is written as a prayer. Having issues or frustrations with our current president is one thing but joining a group that promotes prayer for Obama’s death is another. I know people who have joined this group “jokingly” and frankly I don’t think its funny. One pastor has been actually praying for Obama’s death. (http://www.abpnews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=4126&Itemid=53) It terrifies me to think that someone in Christian authority would do this and promote others to as well.
Why do we make hate part of our agenda? While I politically stand to the left, my argument involves both sides- many did not like Bush and said the same things. However, there seems to be an aggressive turn to violence when discussing Obama and his policies. Whether it be race, or his debatable socialist agenda why can we not respect him as the leader of our country? (by at the very least not wishing death upon him)
What if we took a minute to call or write our congressmen instead of hitting a “like” button or slapping a tasteless bumpersticker on our car? Instead, we get instant gratification and become part of a movement based on hate and thoughtlessness. On both sides political opinions are taking over with little thought to their validity which results in poor decisions like having this facebook group show up on your page.
